Lineage Makes Semi-Finals in BAFF Contest
New Year – New Contest.
Received news today that my feature screenplay LINEAGE, a thriller, was a Semifinalist in this year’s Big Apple Women’s Film Festival in New York City!
That’s exiting news since I entered the contest late.
Ranking in contests is a great way to build clout an interest in your screenplay. I add ranking to the webpage of my screenplay with a comment or two from the contest judge or reader.
Requesting, and paying for, comments from readers of the contests you enter are worth the additional cost. Most of the comments you receive will give you insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the screenplay you submitted.
Read those notes and comments with an open mind.
If you receive the same comments from your friends, critique group, contest judge, or coverage reader, you should take those comments seriously, review your story draft. Tweak the areas that readers seem to stumble over.
High contest awards or ranking is also a great thing to list at the bottom of the ‘Leave Behind’ you hand out during pitch sessions or interviews with industry execs.
Share any laurels you receive on social media. Add them to your blog posts and website. Flaunt them proudly.
Enjoy the kudos!
I know I’m ecstatic LINEAGE made the Semi-Finals in the 2019 Big Apple Women’s Film Festival.
Isn’t the pink award certificate gorgeous?
