Selected For Stowe’s Writers Room Lab

Pinch me. Go on – pinch me – because I must be dreaming that I’vebeen selected for Stowe’s Writers Room Lab this Spring!

Yes, it’s true – you pay for most of it. But you’re selected based on the writing sample you submit with your application. And, based on the sample pages I sent from my fantast-drama pilot, Righteous, I made the cut for Stowe Story Lab’s Writers Room.

You can read the official announcement here. Wahoo!

This is an amazing opportunity for screenwriters to brainstorm, outline, and write a new script. The Writers Room lab lasts for a total of 12 weeks. It is broken into two parts.

Part I will be hosted by showrunner/executive producer, Derek Simonds (Call Me By Your Name, Seven And A Match). Derek will breakdown Season 1 of his hit TV Show, The Sinner, and teach us the fundamentals of building a successful show. He’ll also outline how we can apply techniques he used in creating The Sinner in our pilot and series.

For Part II we will be working with Stowe Story Labs Co-Founder, David Pope (creative producer of The GOAT). With David, we will complete an outline and first draft of our tv pilot. He’ll also prepare us for creating our series bible.

Part II offers guest speakers who have sold pilots and worked in actual writers rooms for a TV series. There will be peer-to-peer sessions with other participants, and one-on-one sessions with David, where we will can receive feedback on  our story progress.

Sessions will also cover: Episode and Season Structure, Theme, Subtext, and Scene Analysis.

I can’t wait to get started!
