This is AMAZING!
My TV pilot, Rhenium, is a semi-finals in Roadmap Writers Top Tier screenwriting contest!
53 Scripts made semi-finals. 10 will be picked as Finalists.
The winner of this contest gets accepted into Roadmap writers Top Tier program for free for an entire year. A value of $4,800.00!
The Top Tier program is part of Roadmap Writers’ immersive Career Writer program. Roadmap Writers actively promotes participates of the program to industry execs, agents, and managers.
Roadmap Writers helped 300+ writers sign with industry representation.
To make Finals or Win this contest would be awesome.
Unlike other contests, the next phase of the Roadmap Writers Top Tier contest requires all semi-finalists to create a 3-minute pitch video. They allow us to upload the latest version of our script. Which is great. An we upload a headshot photo of ourselves.
Finalists receive a 15 minute virtual interview with members of the judging panel.
The Roadmap Writers Top Tier process aims to give screenwriters the experience to pitch before industry execs. Which many of us do not prepare for with our projects at this stage.
Pitching, series bibles, and pitch decks are typically created after a script places in the finals round or after it wins a contest.
So kudos to Roadmap Writers Top Tier Contest for offering this wonderful opportunity to promote our story projects in this way!
I’m prepared for this next phase.
I have a written pitch document for Rhenium. It’s a tad long. So I need to pare it down to about 420 words.
I’ll keep the longer version as a worksheet for Rhenium’s synopsis.
Then, I need to time my pitch. Time it as I read it. Time it again as I recite it from memory .
Luckily for me, there is a Victorian-Era styled B&B in my town.
I will contact them to see if I can film my pitch in one of their parlors. It would make a great setting – visually expressing the feel of Rhenium’s steampunk world.
If my pitch doesn’t make finals, I gained the experience of pitching. I can revamp my pitch document for a future pitching event.
I’ll keep you posted on how things turn out.
Wish me luck!
