Did you know September is National Happy Cat Month?
I didn’t until now, but how fun is that? A whole month devoted to making your cat happy.
We don’t have a cat. Early in our marriage, my husband and I, had three. They were his cats. He owned them before we married.
I like cats. I’m mildly allergic to them. But, I’m more of a dog lover. D are needier than cats. They cuddle more. Cats are too aloof for me.
For fun, I thought it would be cool to Google cats that have appeared in movies. I found tons. Sticking to non-animated movies, here are 7 of my favs:
Church – Pet Sematary (1989 original), Winston Churchill, the Creed family’s gray/black cat, who dies and gets buried in the local pet cemetery that was once an Indian burial ground. The Indians abandoned that burial ground because the soil soured. And once buried, Church returns, seemingly alive, but possessed by evil, and ends up terrorizing his former family.

- Catwoman’s Cats – Batman Returns (1992), Selina Kyle/Michelle pfeiffer’s pet cats who lick her back to life after she is thrown from a window by bad guy, Shreck, played by Christopher Walken.
- Binx – Hocus Pocus (1993) in the Campy Halloween movie, an immortal black cat houses the soul of Thackery Binx who was transformed into a cat by three witches.
- Mr. Bigglesworth – Austin Powers (1997), Dr. Evil’s hairless cat, notorious for getting people killed when he is upset.
- Orion – Men in Black (1997), Mr. Gentle Rosenburg’s cat, who carried an entire galaxy on his collar.
- Buttercup – Hunger Games (2012), Katniss’ sister Prim’s cat who morphs from a black and white cat to a yellowish tabby cat color in the sequel, Catching Fire (2013), after book fans caught the mistake and complained.
- Persian Cat – The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), loved the silver-streaked Persian cat that Deputy Kovacs, played by Jeff Goldblum, carried into the hotel. The cat was tossed out a window by Jopling, a black-clad henchmen, played by Willem Dafoe.
There were so many more that I found that could be added to this list.
What cat characters do you remember?
