We rented a house in Cape Coral, Florida for a week as our Fall vacation. I plan to write, working on my next tv pilot, Thistledown; and hubby brought his laptop to field service calls while away.
House was on a canal where we watch fish jump on a daily basis and spotted a manatee. Only used the pool twice, and enjoyed the hot tub once.
Visited my favorite Cape Coral restaurant, The Lobster Lady. They have the best seafood & best atmosphere in town! Their always packed, but no one minds the wait.
Up early and to bed around 11pm, we accomplished a lot. I was in outline mode for the first couple of days, needing to block out my teaser and act I scenes.
I also met with the greens superintendent of Shell Point Golf Club to get photos of the fairway mower my main character drives in my first act. Hubby and I had lunch at Lighthouse Waterfront restaurant, where a guitarist crooned Crosby, Seals & Nash toons.
We spend town days tooling around Sanibel and Captiva islands. Checked out the national park on Sanibel, ate lunch one day at Doc Ford’s Rum Bar on Sanibel, where I picked up two of author Randy Wayne Whit’s “Doc Ford” novels: Sanibel Flats and Captive.
Hubby brought his drone and while I wrote, he flew few spots around Cape Coal and Fort Meyers.
We met up with friends for a lunch and took a Murder Mystery Dinner Train trip at Fort Myers that was fun and delish!
Florida is a 2nd home for me. I attended college at Florida Institute of Technology in Jensen Beach – which is a now a Native Indian Relic park and Senior citizen apartment complex now.
I’m 3/4th done with reading Sanibel Flats and have been enjoying the read so far. Highly recommend Randy Wayne White’s novels. His Doc Ford character is great and the novels are crime thrillers set in Florida, so I know the areas he describes in his novels, although he tweaks them a bit in the novels.
Loved our Fall vacation. Enjoyed our time there by the canal, in the sun, and I got a lot done.
