Christmas to-do list for writers by screenwriter Kathy Patterson

My December To-Do List

Why wait for New Years to make a To-do List?

Writers should have a daily – if not weekly or monthly – to-do list to keep their writing on track and to help promote themselves on their website and social media.

I’ve shown just a snippet of my Writer To-Do List. My list is much longer than the five items pictured since I juggle more than one writing project at a time, and they are in various stages of completion.

How long is your Writer To-Do List?

Do you remember to include an item or two to market yourself on your website and social media?

If not, add a reminder, prompting you to make consistent posts to keep your “name” and “what you do” out there on the worldwide web.

Do you have a reminder prompting you to edit pages you previously wrote?

Your need one.

Editing and rereading scenes or pages you previously wrote before you begin writing a new scene or page will help you avoid writers block. It also helps get your creative juices flowing because rereading your previous scene pulls you back in your story.

Is your To-Do List too long? Does it intimidate you?

Then make your list smaller. Keep it as simple as you’d like.

As long as your prompts you to write and to promote yourself – it’s perfect!

Let’s check off those items and boxes!

I’ll do mine. You do yours.
