Happy New Year 2021

Wahoo – New Year – New Start!

I’m sure all of us are glad to be done with 2020 – and it’s heartache of the covid pandemic. While deaths are declining, illness is still occurring. Our isolation from one another remains; and our freedom to live our lives without face masks and social distancing continues to be on hold, but I do hope and pray we can find joy, health, and prosperity this year.

I’m staying optimistic.

I did get to travel in 2020. Yeah! With masks, social distancing, and in the company of family, I was able to take a two-week vacation, by travel and plane, to Arizona and Utah. Hiking and exploring – what a wonderful experience that was!

Felt so good to be out and about in nature.

Unfortunately , I didn’t make my 2020 writing goals. But 2020 was an amazing year of accomplishments for me in screenwriting contests.

I’m hoping 2021 will be stellar.

Hope all of you met your 2020 resolutions. If not, it’s now time to renew our pledge to do more in 2021!

For me – this is my updated list for writing:

  1. Keep my website blog updated;
  2. Complete another TV Pilot;
  3. Complete another Thriller Feature;
  4. Complete 5 Short scripts of 5-10 pages in length.

Mainly same worthy endeavors from last year. All necessary goals for any writer. Must add more writing samples to one’s portfolio. Again, the more intellectual property you have as a writer the better your chances are at convincing a manager, agent or producer that you’re not a one-hit-wonder. You have many stories to offer.

And, by diversifying the lengths and platforms of your scripts, you show them your willing to venture outside the comfort zone of just writing one style of script. Feature vs. TV Pilot. Feature length vs. short script. Scripts that can be produced with a Low budget, Medium, or High budget. Contained location scripts with a minimal cast, to a script with multi-locations and large cast.

Will I succeed in attaining my goals this year? I’ll certainly try.

Most of all – Let’s Enjoy this NEW YEAR!
