Waking Amelia, by kathy patterson makes quarter finals in short screenplay contest

Waking Amelia Quarter Finalist

My poignant short script, Waking Amelia, regarding suicide, placed as a quarter finalist in The Southern California Short Screenplay Competition.

Logline: A grieving millennial attends his former lover’s wake, where her parents laud their daughter for sacrificing her life to provide organs to others, when he knows she didn’t.

The story deals with relationships in the aftermath of a suicide. It reveals how family, friends, and lovers respond to such an event, and how emotions can be expressed in solemn, explosive and evasive manner.

I haven’t submitted the script to many contests, due to its sensitive nature.

So I’m glad it was as well received as in this contest.
